Who is my target audience?

What kinds of things do they do?

How do they dress?

What other products do they buy?

What other artists do they listen to?

How do they market themselves?

Your content shouldn’t feel like an advertisement. Consumers are getting bombarded every single day with tens of thousands of digital ads. Most social media users, yourself included, have gained the ability to instantly detect whether something feels like an ad and automatically want to skip it/ignore it once you make the decision. This means that the first 5-10 seconds of your videos have to have a “hook.”

Similar to music, your content needs to have something to hook people onto the content and make them stay to watch the entire video. Some of the more common trends showcase wonky BTS clips for the first few seconds and then cut to a more professional/cinematic looking performance scene to give the viewer a feeling of seeing the progress/journey that it took to make the content.

One common mistake that people make when trying to market on social media is deviating away from what they actually want to be known for. You might find that you can make super relatable videos talking about your opinions, feelings, etc. but that doesn’t mean that your viral videos will convert to listeners. Many artists have a misconception that gaining a following automatically guarantees success. If your content isn’t related to what you’re doing, people build their own image of who you are excluding the very thing you wanted to be known for.

Thinking about hiring globally? Start with an EOR.

The best person for your next role might not live near your office—or even in the same country.

More companies are realizing they don't need to open entities everywhere just to access global talent. Instead, they're using EOR to hire internationally faster, stay compliant, and avoid building local infrastructure before they're ready.

Oyster's EOR helps companies hire, pay, and support employees in 180+ countries while Oyster handles payroll, compliance, taxes, and local employment requirements.
